Disabled American Veterans Thrift Stores in Wichita, KS
With more than 1.2 million members, Disabled American Veterans is an organization of disabled veterans who are focused on building better lives for disabled veterans and their families.
The organization accomplishes this goal by providing free assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits and services earned through their military service. It is fully funded through its membership dues and public contributions. It is not a government agency and receives no government funds. DAV Thrift Stores operates on this principle by receiving donated items from the public. Selling them in our 5 thrift stores in Wichita. The donated items are tax deductible. CLOTHING - for all ages, clean.
SHOES - for all ages, clean. TOYS, BOARD GAMES, BICYCLES FURNITURE - in good condition without stains, rips or frame damage. CARPETS & AREA RUGS - clean. AIR CONDITIONERS - working. ELECTRIC STOVES - with plug, clean. PORTABLE TVs - working. COMPUTERS, MONITORS & KEYBOARDS - with at least CD ROM capability. OFFICE FURNITURE - no metal desks. BOOKS - for all ages.No encyclopedias. JEWELRY - in good repair. LINENS, BEDDING, TOWELS, KITCHEN LINENS - clean. DISHES, POTS, PANS, GLASSWARE, BAKING NEEDS, SILVERWARE, CUTLERY, AND VASES. DECORATING ITEMS, CANDLES, PICTURES, BRIC A BRAC & HOLIDAY ITEMS. It is appreciated if donations are in closed boxes or plastic bags.Large donations may qualify for pick up - call 316-262-7440 for arrangements. The DAV Thrift Stores sales support local veteran programs in the immediate Wichita area.Every year the DAV gives out food baskets to veterans and their families at any time of need, no just the holidays.We give clothing vouchers to veterans for use in our stores as needed too.Our sales support the DAV Transportation VAN Network in the local area which enables veterans to be driven to doctor and hospital appointments by DAV volunteer drivers at no charge. Our locally owned and operated stores employ approximately 70 people in our five stores and warehouses. We Accept VEHICLE Donations at DAV in Wichita!
