Vera Bradley

Guided by its founders, Patricia Miller and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, Vera Bradley has earned a reputation as a leader in the gift industry. Creating stylish quilted cotton luggage, handbags and accessories, the company combines smart product designs with distinctive and colorful fabrics and trims.

The Vera Bradley story is a testimony to the American Dream: While on vacation in March of 1982, Patricia and Barbara were awaiting a flight in Atlanta when they noticed a definite lack of feminine-looking luggage. The longtime friends wasted no time in correcting this situation. Within weeks, these dynamic women had created a company, named after Barbara’s mother, capable of marketing and manufacturing their cleverly designed products. The demand for these unique handbags and luggage items has grown and so has Vera Bradley, which is now nationally and internationally recognized.

For over twenty years, Vera Bradley has had a loyal following of customers who not only look forward to lovely new fabrics and styles that are introduced each season, but who also appreciate the function and quality that is synonymous with the name.

Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Vera Bradley continues to remain steadfast in its commitment to excellent quality, exclusive designs and dependable customer service.

Peggy Karr Glass

“I started Peggy Karr Glass in 1987 at my home in Morristown, New Jersey. I had majored in art and biology at college in the 1970’s, with a focus on ceramics and I later started working in stained glass. I was a “starving artist”, supporting myself with odd jobs by day and doing my artwork by night. I came across an old piece of enameled glass by Maurice Heaton, who, along with Michael and Frances Higgins began the resurgence of enameled glass in the late 1940’s. So, no, I did not invent the process but I fell in love with it and have worked hard to master and improve enameled glass.”

Since these humble beginnings in 1987, Peggy Karr Glass, Inc. has grown from a one-woman studio to the largest enameled fused glass company in the world.

The basic material of Peggy Karr products is glass, hand cut into over twenty different shapes and sizes to create a wide variety of products.

Computers are used so that the designs created by Peggy Karr artists can be easily reproduced. Line drawings are printed to give the artisans a working outline on which to decorate.

Colors are uniquely formulated combinations of finely ground glass and ceramic pigments. Years of ongoing research and development have been devoted to this vital aspect Peggy Karr custom glass work. Computer generated stencils are used to layer each color on the glass. This makes it possible to recreate a design while still giving the artisan control over the subtle variations of color which add uniqueness to each piece.

A second layer of glass is used on most pieces to ensure the first will never fade or change color.

Uniqueness at Peggy Karr Glass extends into the industrial side of the business. Peggy designed her kilns in the early 1990's specifically for her product. When the glass and color are heated to 1600° F they fuse together and form one piece of glass, sealing and protecting the design forever.

Each piece of Peggy Karr Glass undergoes a thorough cleaning and inspection before it can bear the distinctive inscription; 'PKG' for Peggy Karr Glass, followed by the year. This ensures your piece of functional art is of the highest quality and will be treasured and enjoyed for years to come.

Brighton

Brighton is known for designing products with a message. Many of the items in the collection have a defining detail that gives them special meaning. Whether it is love notes engraved on a bracelet or a handbag adorned with a treasured photo, Brighton products help create lasting memories.

Brighton was launched in 1991 with a single collection of belts. Over the years, Brighton has become an accessory company with something for everyone. Handbags were added to the line in 1993, followed by small leather goods, watches, jewelry, home accessories, eyewear and most recently, luggage.

Today Brighton is the only major accessories line featuring products that coordinate from head to toe. A customer might choose a lipstick case that matches a wallet, jewelry that matches a pair of sunglasses, a handbag that matches her footwear, or an entire coordinating collection consisting of multiple accessories.

Pandora

Back in 1982, the jeweler’s shop that would one day become PANDORA was established by the goldsmith P. Enevoldsen and his wife in modest surroundings on Nørrebrogade in Copenhagen, Denmark. They often travelled to Thailand in search of jewelry for importing, and as demand for their wares increased, the company focus shifted to the wholesale business.

In 1987, after several highly successful years as wholesalers, the company discontinued its retail activities and moved to larger premises. After a few more years as wholesalers, Winnie and Per were inspired to open their own factory in Thailand. This was done as a means of ensuring, among other things, control of their own designs. Lone Frandsen was hired as a designer, and the company began to focus on creating a unique jewelry brand. In 1996, Lisbeth Larsen, goldsmith and designer, joined the company and, together with Lone, she has played a key role in defining PANDORA’s style.

1999 saw the launch of PANDORA’s ever-popular charm bracelet on the Danish market. Consumers quickly embraced the concept, and PANDORA grew hand in hand with the increase in demand. In foreign markets, interest in selling PANDORA jewelry has been in high demand, turning PANDORA into a global brand that is currently sold in 18 countries. PANDORA has gone from a two-man business 25 years ago, to a team of 35 at its head office in Copenhagen, a team of over 100 employees servicing North America, and 1,000 workers at PANDORA Productions, its factory in Thailand.

Crabtree & Evelyn

Founded in 1973 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Crabtree & Evelyn has evolved from a small, family-run business to an international company, respected for its naturally inspired remedies and home comforts.

Long before the 'natural' and 'wellness' movement became popular, Crabtree & Evelyn was wholeheartedly embracing the riches of the natural world. Our inspirational model is the early home apothecary, or 'still room' as it was called in England. Still rooms existed in a time when the garden played an integral role in daily life - a time when fresh flowers, herbs and fruits were distilled to make fragrant waters for the bath and soothing essences for the skin. It is this unique relationship with nature that Crabtree & Evelyn diligently seeks to preserve.

Lampe Berger

The air is even more pleasant when, like Lampe Berger, you are celebrating 110 years of innovation. The first Lampe Berger lamp was created in 1898 by Maurice Berger, a pharmacy dispenser, to purify the air in hospital wards.

Living conditions improved and cleansing of premises became an important preoccupation. The Lampe Berger lamp was to contribute effectively to the disinfection of hospitals from 1907 onwards. It was then seen in houses requiring the air to be cleaned.

1930: Fragrance began to provide a pleasurable dimension; the taste for beautiful objects also reached its peak and the Lampe Berger lamp became a collector's item.

Jean Cocteau and Pablo Picasso were the first “well-known people” to appreciate it.

Then came innovations concerning the exploration of materials like porcelain and a widening of the range to make Lampe Berger accessible to all. A new direction was given at the beginning of the 1980s with a fruitful cooperation with designers, who conveyed a modern touch.

In 1996 the company became structured: a Research and Development department was created in order to continue to improve product performance. Since that date, innovations have been continuous and are systematically patented worldwide, in more than 20 countries.
